 Terrence Burns is president of Helios Partners, LLC and has a long history in sports marketing and communications as a sponsor, as an agent for the IOC and as an Olympic consultant with his own agency. Burns began his sports marketing career as Managing Director - Olympic Programs for Delta Air Lines, overseeing the planning and implementation of the company’s sponsorship of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.He joined Meridian Management, the IOC’s sponsorship agency in 1996; then founded his own Olympic consulting business in 2000. While at Meridian, Burns spearheaded the first-ever global assessment of the Olympic Brand in 1998. The work is still the basis for brand communication within the Olympic Movement and helped lead the direction and creation of the IOC’s first brand image campaign, “Celebrate Humanity” in 1999-2000. Burns worked on the successful Beijing 2008, Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014 Olympic bids, Kazan 2013 Universiade bid and Golf’s bid to return to the Olympics. And within the past year, he led the Russian 2018 FIFA World Cup™ bid, served as the architect of the ‘New Horizons’ brand positioning concept that helped PyeongChang, South Korea earn the right to host the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and led Kazan, Russia to another victory – this time for the 2015 FINA World Championships. Burns holds a BBA degree from Emory University in Atlanta and an MBA from Georgia State University in Atlanta. |
